Working Remotely

The best solution for working remotely is to install and use your AMT software on your home computer just like you would in your office.

Download the software from the Customer Portal and install it on your home computer. If you have any problems downloading or installing the software, call (800) 280-0240 / (248) 458-0381 or e-mail support@amt-software.com

Contact customer service for options to license AMT software for your home computer.

Can I run ExpertCAD in the cloud?

Cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, ...) used in conjunction with a remote display technology such as Microsoft Remote Desktop, VMWare, etc. is not supported. Our technicians can't support all the possible combinations of technologies that can be deployed to implement a cloud-like solution. Furthermore spurious issues - particularly with the behavior of the right mouse button to track the icons - have been reported to us for certain implementations. Issues with latency caused by the remote software layers and/or insufficient internet/network bandwidth contributes to a less than satisfactory interactive responsiveness of the software. While the software does not prevent attempting to use it in this type of environment, we strongly recommend against doing so and can't assist you should problems arise.

I would like to use remote desktop to use AMT software installed on my computer at work so I can work at home. Is this possible?

Yes.  As noted above, this type of usage is not supported.

I am getting this error when I run the software:

What's wrong?

You are running a version earlier than 2018. Support for remote desktop usage was introduced in Version 2018. You can download the latest release from the Customer Portal.

I don't have a software support contract so I can't upgrade to the latest release. Is there anything I can do to work remotely?

Well that's a shame. Call us and let's discuss your situation. We might be able to help.

My computer at work has a USB key. When I run from home, it says there isn't a USB key present so I can't get a license. What's wrong?

Remote desktop ignores the USB ports on your computer at work so our software doesn't "see" the USB license key. If you have a software support contract, call us to discuss an alternate licensing method to get you up and running.
